Reflection post

This semester had been quite a challenge for me, as the subjects were a bit tougher than what I'm used to.
In this assignment, I managed to find out some things that I otherwise would be able to find out on my own, such as the Facebook privacy issues, Internet regulation problems and so on. For example, people could hack and take advantage of our posts in our Facebook accounts and give us a bad name.
Regulation of the Internet has gone quite out of hand several times before, such as the release of nude pictures of Prince Harry, but I believe that the Internet should not be censored as it restricts our freedom of speech and information blockage. This is especially worse given the fact that the Malaysian Board of Censorship can be a bit over-zealous sometimes, like muting out the word "ditch" in an episode of a show I watched. Sometimes in certain cases, I felt as if censorship is completely unnecessary, as children will simply experience it in real life on a day-to-day basis and they should know what is going on in anything they watched. Chopping up dialogues will simply turn off viewers to the show.

Reflection of the whole semester

Media is an interesting subject that plays a major role in any society. As been said by some of my friends here, I agree that media has their own good and bad depending on how people use it. It can be used to spread information and entertainment, but it can also be used to spread lies and propaganda. One example of this are advertisements, where business are promoted but the products are exaggerated just to get the attention of customers to buy them.

We also need to be careful of what information is shown in media as some of them may not be accurate and some information may even be hidden from us. People may even tamper with accurate information and add their own twist to t6he info just to get other people's attention.

As a media student, I felt as if we need to depict our subjects as accurately as possible in order not to cheat or lie to our audiences. Sure, the contents in media nowadays are not as they seem to be, but as the newer generation of media workers, we can change that in order  to provide information and entertainment that are both interesting but accurate as well.

Reflection post

I learn a lot through this subject  , for example , I never knew the ACT 114A exist actually , and now I know  how it will affect users around Malaysia if it still launched  . It also open my eyes to see the media influential better than before . I see how the Internet is a place where we reach other people  , how we became friends, founding out about the latest news , tabloids and almost everything useful but then , when there's good part , there's always a hell of a bad part  especially how the internet ruin lives . But mostly , we as an normal internet user , we should know the norm of the internet and  what the world out there is capable of , we are ought to not be an ignorant and take care all in things in the internet cautiously and be aware  , not to be reckless in letting people know your personal information . As interesting as all the things I learned , about the Prince Harry Nude photos leaked to the internet , when it happened Prince Harry is not connected to the internet at all , but this what happens if the media is craving for hot news and then leaked such pictures  , what they don't care is what if a below age kid suddenly click on a link , and BAM ! the pictures appears . Parents also take part in guarding what the kids are seeing in the internet  . I don't blame the internet for everything , every person needs to know their limit , don't just blindly blame everything around you , but you are never wrong . Well , that's wrong . obviously . The internet is the key in this modern world , if there's no internet , the world will not run as smoothly as now .

Reflection through the whole semester
From what I learned this sem , Media is an interesting subject . I learned how the media affect our cultural lives and vice versa . Media is everywhere  . How it influences our life is a great deal . How it destroys and ruin lives and all .

Being an advertising my self , I see how my future where I'm going to exaggerate the truth to sell .I warned, don't put your trust in advertisement 100% ,  but  I believe we do what we need to do to survive ,depends on how much you trust the media, not to be so oblivious to falling into traps and kind words ,be open minded , think before act/buy .

The media will not stop chasing you , they will always be there , it's your choice to be influenced or not  . So , yes media culture is an important lesson to teach us creative multimedia students to be aware of what's going on out there and set things back up right and try to convey real messages that brings the truth and throw away the bad intentions that some media people don't care about as long as they make mountains of money .

Reflection.....take one !

(First of all, I want to apologize if you can't understand my words because of my grammar)

Okay , so here we go. From my point of view, what can I see is that everyone has their own opinions towards all the topics given for this assignment whether it is bad or not and mostly, it is part of learning. Internet is a place where most of us teenagers hanging out with friends whether it is close or not. I can say that people made mistakes by sharing their personal info through a public social network and yeah, some people learned from it....while some are not. We all experienced the same thing and sometimes, we take other's experience as a moral value so we won't follow other people's mistakes in the future.

What do I learned from Media Culture?

Well , I learned lots of things about media that has been effected to our lives. The great thing about this subject than any other subjects in my major is that it opens my mind towards the usage of media in our daily life nowadays. You see, media involves in our life for like....every day ? Yes, our daily life style was entirely about media. Think about it, when is the last time you read your favorite book or novels that you have bought so eagerly before ? If you ask me, it would have been like.....few years ago ? Haha

So yeah , I got to admit it , media is part of my life now and sometimes I wonder if I was being mediated by the media or not. But sometimes, if we manage to open our eyes, to see that most of media nowadays are used for the sake of the human greediness I believe that human can change their way of thinking into something more positive rather than bad. Media Culture tells me about how media are being used in our society and how it works. To be honest, most of it are nothing but just a lie. We can't trust much of people in this world anymore, as long as you cannot trust yourself either.

Last post :D

Most of the group discussion were basically from the internet on how society works in making things worse by using the internet. The thing about the internet is that it is world wide . Internet can be used for good things but most people used are for the bad ones. We could really change it into something better , if the morale of the person increase. Example , Facebook is the area where people can get scammed so much due to lack of intelligent of adding their personal things in the profile. I might say even if the government was trying to make it better , it is not by making things stricter but to use another method by planting a good morale behavior for the people . Maybe it would be less terrible than it is already is. We must always think and always be careful whenever we are on the web. People should not take granted on things like this. There are bad people out there who are trying to sabotage our lives. We must always be smart about this and the government could also find those people who are trying to sabotage by analyzing and scanning first. Innocence until proven guilty! and then maybe the people would not complain so much about it.

Reflection for the whole semester
I learn that media culture can represent many things. Media culture also gives out the good and the bad. The thing about media , is that it can destroy little things without us knowing. We never able to grasp the situation properly until the truth is revealed. Sometimes even though we know these things about television , internet , newspaper , advertising and many more , we still are the victims of the media. Recently the message that is given out to us manipulates our mind into becoming someone that the society wants but not what we wanted. We have become so engrossed into media , we even act like the media. We are the victims but then we are the cause of this as well. Having the power over the media can make a person manipulate and also sends message to the viewers which makes the false into true. Our generations right now is all about technology. There are no more crayon books or even playing with Barbie dolls anymore. Those things are now outdated. The lecturer taught us a valuable things about media culture.I learned so much in this semester. We can be someone that we wanted to be , not what the society expects us to be. Media is entertaining but it is also dangerous. Never underestimate media culture.

Reflection post!

From the discussion in this blog, I would say that everyone have their opinion in each topic. Most of topics given are related to social networks. As we know social networks are the most hits in internet statistic, so, lots of latest news we should update in order to be safe in using social networks. Not only limited to social networks, we also need to updates about other issues related technology, so that, we can be free from cyber crime.

---------------------------------------------

I love Media Culture subject! Its made me think how does technology change our lifestyle and culture. Technology can be a good thing and be bad things in the same time. For me, media and technology can  represent many things and make human life easier. As we can observed nowadays, most of people become technology' slaves and this is serious matter that we should take note. As media student, I think we need to bring back the media and technology on the right track.

When it Should Be and when it Should Not?

Internet censorship is a control on what public gets from the internet. Its not all in the internet can be seen or read by the public.Who controling? maybe from the goverment or private organization.Internet censorship is like a law nowdays but there lack of rule of law. This is because people always says that internet is the freedom world.Must remember the world with so much freedom is a not control world where more to bad then good. Its should be balance, that is some it can be post public some must be covert. So,when it shoun be control and should not be control?
The Internet user are huge, from the kids untill the elder people they used the internet. When comes to pornography, the items or the post should be control or remove from the web because its give bad respond to the young. But when givin news update of the true story of politics, crime index or something that very important that people need to know and should be,then the internet is the most powerful medium to tell the news and spread it.Dont the scenario goes wrong way, what i mean is when comes to pornography they did not censor it but when came to the true story that should be told they censor it.

Internet Censorship

Internet is a place where is not boundaries had been set for censorship. Even through some of website did create some censorship rules but Internet still having censorship issues as it is never own with a real law of Internet Censorship.

As I was read through an articles about Prince William's naked photos had been separate through Internet, I think media will take advantage to separate personal issues to public as the Internet haven't create law for Internet Censorship. Moreover, unhealthy lifestyles with very low good morale can be shown in Internet as it's doesn't own censorship law.

For my opinion, Internet should own Censorship law, so that, Internet users and media companies would able to copy or reproduce the materials in Internet and personal data of individuals.

Sincerely,

Internet Censorship is a Must !

From the article that I was given , I find that Internet censorship is very important in keeping life safe  and private .

Sometimes things that are not supposed to be open to public are exposed by the media due to lack of censorship , not all information are open to just any people . Sometimes things that was not supposed to be seen by little kids are leaked and they are free to watch whatever's on the internet

Also , at times ,  the Media are promoting unhealthy life style , such as advertising beer or pornography . Even though their target are not towards the younger ones but there are not limit  to stop the younger generations  to take a peek or just watch it .

I think internet censorship is very important in promising a better life for the youth when they should be enjoying the outdoor and healthier lifestyle rather than browsing inappropriate sites .

Internet censorship issue

According to this article : http://www.buzzle.com/articles/media-censorship-why-is-censorship-good.html , it is said internet censorship is important to protect the minds of the innocent and also the privacy of a person. If we look in one direction , the person who regulates mostly the internet is partly people from around the world. People who are deemed to sabotage a person's live and also to get publicity. Looking in Prince Harry's naked photos indicates , the privacy has totally fallen over. Censorship must be at a certain degree but does not effects a person's limitation on using the internet. They should censor the things that are very dangerous and even would be the cause of a person's mind to be totally filthy and to protect the content of a person's privacy. I really do think that internet censorship should be applied.

Internet censorship should limit the parts of the internet that is very defenseless like pornographic and even gossip that would ruin a person's lives. They should build a block to certain parts but not all that does not give any danger at all. Internet censorship should build a wall that would protect the peoples privacy and also the mind from being influence by bad things. We should protect the future generations minds from being any more corrupted but the internet censorship should work smart when censoring things that are matter.

http://skeptisys.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/qqxsge-mail-privacy.gif

Internet censorship is a very big thing that has been discussed for a quite a long time now.Compared to the yesteryears, where privacy is more respected and acknowledged, there seems to be hardly any sense of privacy among the users frequenting the Internet.

The Internet, as many people know, is regulated by many regular people who made up most of the anonymity groups of the Net.It's mainly because of this sense of anonymity that makes many of the user feel a sense of freedom, though some of them decides to take advantage of it to do bad things.

On the subject of Internet censorship, I felt the censorship is necessary to be applied only up to a certain degree. Websites with pornographic content should be censored from the public eye, as they encourages negative influence towards people. This is especially so towards the younger generation, who are more easily influenced by anything around them. Websites containing malicious viruses should also be blocked, so as to prevent the users' computers to be infected. Fake websites disguising themselves as famous sites should be banned to prevent identity thefts and much worse from happening to people.

As a conclusion, I can say that Internet privacy is something very hard to control unless people are willing to change their personalities for the better while Internet censorship is important, though it should only be applied on certain topics and subjects.

Internet Censorship

Honestly , the first time I'm reading the article , I suddenly feel annoyed on how people blaming the internet as the main cause of the Prince Harry's nude pictures exposed to the public. The internet (yes , it might be a problem too) but mostly everything was directed or started from those who spread the pictures through internet a.k.a reporters , stalkers , or hackers.

It's the same concept as Facebook privacy issues , most of the users are not protected and can endanger only because of this matter. And as for the censorship , it's still the same thing. I always thought that the internet is going to block me from view some nude webpage but instead , they're not.

There's a time where I want to visit a website (but sadly I forgot the name) and somehow it links me to an unknown webpage which has a lot of nude pictures (which somehow it made me almost close my laptop , too shock to see it and turn away from the monitor and quickly clicked back to the previous webpage) because of the sudden uncensored pictures. Even if you type some of those 'nude' words , I can't guarantee that internet will censored 90% of it even if people requested them to increased the internet censorship.

Facebook Privacy Issue

Mark Zuckerberg co-created Facebook in his Harvard dorm room.

What I really know about Facebook that is it a social networking service launched in February 2004.When talk about social and networking of couse our biodata are needed when comes to socialize. After all the scenario, that I found out its all depend on the user responsibility using the facebook. This is because it doesnt matter we hide our data or not if people commit to do so they will do so in any way.To put a privacy is good but it doesnt mean that your will be secure enough. The more you share on what you do,you like or you went the more likely you can get lots of connection with friends. If you want to make so many privacy,In my opinion facebook not the place this is why because of facebook are close to the community.

Facebook Privacy Issue

I have also heard about this issue of Facebook and it's privacy . We all know that most facebook-ers are stalkers , it just depend whether they are psychotic stalkers or a normal human being that just love to stalk on people and friends .

In either way , it's dangerous if our Facebook account privacy settings aren't set correctly . There could always be a crazy , insane (mostly jobless) person that will try to steal our identity or do something unattractive towards our identity .

Facebook have provided us with privacy settings and all , we can hide our about our information if we didn't like exposing it, we also can hide our pictures from public . But all of this did not mean that we can stop any identity theft from happening . Since our profile pic , eventhough it's in small size , it can be saved by anybody that have decided to visit our profile , and our names obviously are set to be seen by public, if not what's the reason you have an fb acc if you want to hide everything ?the FB team clearly give us rights on what to share what to not share , it's really up to us  but , I sometimes also afraid if somebody make a different acc by using our picture and name, this case have already  happened to my cousin since the myspace era . But luckily he can detect the person , and did not make a big deal out of it , since it harmless . But I still think it's dangerous because what if that theft identity( even by just using a picture of us and our name ) ,use our identity to post unnecessary and  inappropriate comments on something that we didn't even care about but could cause us being spread in the tabloids .

I and Facebook's Privacy Issue

From my personal view, Facebook's privacy issue is not a new things since Facebook is one of many social networks. Basically, social network user will share anything about them through their account or so-called profile page without aware that their personal information data and their images can be steal easily by hackers.
Despite with that, I'm still using social network like facebook n blogger but I'm really careful in sharing my personal information, so that, the risk of irresponsible individual to steal my personal information is lower.

Facebook's Privacy Issues

I have heard that for quite a while that Facebook have been having problems regarding its privacy before, though it mostly involves identity theft.
Truthfully, before this assignment was given, I have not heard about this major issue before.
Facial recognition technology is both helpful and risky at the same time, as demonstrated in the article where people have been using it to track down people with Facebook accounts. However, there's a good side to this as this technology could also help us identify whoever has been posing as ourselves online.
Despite this issue that has been going around, I would still use Facebook anyway. Facebook is my main source of communication between my friends, my group mates and also my family, as I prefer communicating with people through mediums rather than face-to-face in daily life.

Facebook Privacy's Issues

Talking about privacy issues, I'm guessing that not all social networks can protect the user's personal information fully. Sometimes, the systems itself doesn't function well. With a lot of expertise or first-class hackers out there, I don't think social networks these days are that safe anymore. A lot of cases happened due to this matter and it really concerns me in posting my personal information in the internet.

I heard from a friend that there's a case where there's a couple broke up their relationship due to personal matters and, the guy who seeks for revenge went through his ex-girlfriend's personal information in the Facebook; killed her through the address given in her account.

Not just that. I have a friend who has a Facebook account, her pictures in her album were all taken by some of our junior high school student who turns out to be her biggest fan. He stalks her (everyday I guess) and save every one of her pictures into his album without her knowing it. That's crazy , I tell you. In the end, she reported it to the right authorities. So, what do you think about this?

Facebook privacy issues!

I realize these days that hacking and privacy issues are arising especially through social networking. Facebook is one of those websites. I am aware that privacy is becoming more and more unprotected. Sometimes even a tagged photo could lead easily to a person's personal private life. Even adding information such emails in the profile , people are trying to hack in. It is hard for people to avoid Facebook because Facebook is the main social networking around the world.

There are some bad people out there are trying to ruin peoples life , but then it is not entirely Facebook security is at fault here , it is also because people usually provide some information without even noticing that their giving away something important. Facebook gave the security option , people has a choice whether to make it private , to add friends and also to block people . Facebook should also tighten the security by removing people who will interfere with the system. If it was me , i would not put any important infos even it is a email that leads to your bank account . People should be more careful rather than blaming without reason.

Topic 1 : ACT114A

ACT114A is an act where they arrest people to those who do false article , wrong doings and illegal stuff.

“A person whose name, photograph or pseudonym appears on any publication depicting himself as the owner, host, administrator, editor or sub-editor, or who in any manner facilitates to publish or re-publish the publication is presumed to have published or re-published the contents of the publication unless the contrary is proved.” – Act 114A

Why do they torture us this way? It is not like we did it on purpose , the internet is a huge network. It is suppose to be our own right and not how the government controls and stalks us everywhere we go. They must really reconsider this properly. This is really concerning on why are they doing the hard way that makes everybody plain angry. They are suppose to start small not start a war between people and the act. We Malaysians are free country , don't restrict our rights. What happen to innocent until proven guilty? Did it disappear? I know not everybody obeys the law , but at least give a proper one on how to control this . Planned it and consider our feelings if we get caught without us knowing why.

People's reaction towards ACT114

As much as we concern about how does this ACT114A affect us, this is how some people react towards the new Section 114(A) a.k.a Presumption of Fact in Publication.

What Rakyat respond?

The Internet Blackout day on Aug 14, 2012. Malaysians made history! It was only possible because of the thousands who used the tools provided by the open web to spread the information about Section 114A far and wide. The diversity and creativity of actions, from tweeting, posting on Facebook, designing banners and pictures, e-mailing, to even going offline the whole day, was outstanding! It shows that many actions of protest are possible and indeed, necessary.
The broad spectrum of people who came together also shows that this is an issue that cuts across political divides. Some tried hard to paint this citizen-initiated campaign as politically-motivated or influenced by partisan politics. In an extremely polarised political landscape like ours, initiatives such as the Internet Blackout Day are bound to get caught in the crossfire. To raise awareness about the detrimental impact of Section 114A of the Evidence Act.Another positive outcome is that a lot more Malaysians now realise how faulty our process of law-making is.If only consultation had taken place before the bill becomes law.
If only MPs — whether from BN or Pakatan, or the Independents — were given enough resources to look carefully at this law and their implications on the rakyat.
If only MPs were given enough time to debate this before they vote.
Fact is, there was zero consultation. Fact is, MPs are often badly stretched and under resourced. Fact is, we’ve seen more quality debate on Section 114A over the past few days than in Parliament when the bill was passed!
If we take our democracy and its processes seriously, it’s our individual responsibility to keep our lawmakers on their toes. It’s our responsibility to educate and inform ourselves of various laws and policies that affect us, something that  Malaysians  proved they were able to do. It’s also our responsibility to demand that out lawmaking process be consultative and transparent. We can’t mature as a democracy if laws are bulldozed through Parliament, only to have them withdrawn or discussed after much public protest.
For those who were skeptical about the efficacy of a 24-hour Internet-based protest, we support the idea that online action needs to be taken offline to effect lasting change.
The online community should also respond to the Cabinet decision to not review Section 114A, following the Prime Minister’s tweet in response to the popular online support for Internet Blackout Day.

What is ACT 114A?

Hi, readers! What is Act 114A and does it endangered us as Internet User in Malaysia? From my understanding about this issue, this act is about the arrest warrant to whom doing a wrongdoing such as spread or shared the negative ideology and negative thought or views through Internet.

However, this act seems to be wrong and injustice because not only wrongdoings Internet users but innocent internet users can be accused under this act if their internet connection or social network accounts had been misused by irresponsible internet users.

From my personal life, this act may affect me if my social network had been hacked or my WiFi connection had been misused by cyber criminals. But if I really be careful on handling my social network and WiFi connection, it's won't harm me yet I'm not a kind of person who share negative thought or views on my social network account, blogs or any kind services provided through Internet medium.

I'm really concern about this issue and government should discuss back about this act and if they wanted to do any kind of act which is included cyber space, I would prefer the government improvise the CyberSecurity department before planning to create this kind of act, so that, this act won't affect innocent internet users and CyberSecurity department able to identify the exact cyber criminals more accurately. This can make the act more fair and more acceptable to everyone.

ACT114A

                                                        source: http://www.tristupe.com/2012/08/what-is-act-114a.html

ACT114A is basically a new law that appoint whoever is the owner that are caught posting or publishing  unnecessary news  , article or etc under their account is going to be questioned even though they didn't do it . They also can be sued and lawyer ed , they will have to  face all the allegations until they are proven innocent.

ACT114A will obviously make my life a living hell if I'm ever caught in doing something that I didn't do . Being accused and have to face all the allegations , going in and of court is sure going to change my lifestyle and forever will change my perception on how the higher authorities manage our beloved country .

What matters to me is everything needs be based on the truth , not just because we own that account "we are the criminals" , it's so wrong , so for me , it does matter for us to stop this ACT114A before normal lives are destroyed because of this little thorns that are going through skins .

Should I be concerned ? Yes , I think I should , because I would never want this to be happened in my life , I would never want my resume to fill with this false allegations , I will go against this .ACT114A needs to be stopped because it is a biased rule .

ACT114A

From a source that I've read, I can summarize that ACT114A is an act that allows the arrest of owners of a property relating to the Internet, even if they didn't post the offending material. This act will cause the owners to be wrongly accused of spreading bad news regarding people of a higher power than them.

This act would not only invade my personal space on the Internet, but it will also cause other people to take advantage of my Internet properties and push the blame on me if they did any wrongdoings while using my Wifi, posting comments on my blog, uploading inappropriate files on websites and so on.

The seriousness of this act does matter as not only wrongdoer will find scapegoats to push the blame to, but can also be a form of oppression by the higher ups, such as the government and certain political movements.

The release of such an act should be of concern to everyone, as it highlights injustice over the citizens in favour over people of higher position and power, regardless of whether the people arrested committed the accused act in the first place.
